Workforce Education in Historic Preservation
Lost Trades,Rediscovered
Workforce Education in Historic Preservation allows students to delve into history, and discover styles, construction methods, materials and master trades that have all but vanished from the earth.
From hand-cut stone joinery to lime-mortar pointing, from ornamental plasterwork to timber framing — these are living skills passed through apprenticeship, not textbooks. OFP's preservation education program trains the next generation of craftspeople to carry them forward.
The Royal Arch documentation project surfaces original ledgers, architectural drawings, and manuscript records — primary sources that ground OFP's preservation work in the authentic history of the structures we steward.
